Best Practices to Improve Nutrition in Dryland Areas Symposium

When: 7th – 9th August, 2018

Where: Arusha, Tanzania

What: The Symposium, jointly organized by World Vision Tanzania, ECHO East Africa, and Amaranth Institute, will provide a network and training opportunity for those involved in improving nutrition, alleviating hunger and addressing poverty in dryland areas with special emphasis in East Africa. Three mornings of plenary sessions featuring knowledgeable and experienced speakers will be followed by afternoon workshops and discussion groups led by regional and international agricultural development workers and experts.

OFAB-Kenya Annual Media Awards Gala

Where: Nairobi, Kenya

What: The event, organized by the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) and its partner organizations including International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA AfriCenter), is aimed at recognizing journalists who have consistently gone out of their way to sensitize the public on agricultural biotechnology. The gala will celebrate and award three winning journalists in the following categories; Television, Radio and Print media.

Scientific innovation for a sustainable development of African agriculture

When: 30th – 31st August, 2018

Where: Ghent, Belgium

What: The aim of the conference is to bring together several stakeholders (breeders, policymakers and researchers) from Africa and Europe to discuss research initiatives working on solutions to increase yield productivity in Africa, and to encourage future collaborations. The convening of the conference has been informed by the fact that African agricultural productivity is dwindling owing to different factors such as pests, pathogens, diseases, and drought among others.
