In the month of September 2018, eight countries around the world made approvals for commercial use of biotech crops. Taiwan made approvals for biotech maize and canola for food use. Philippines approved herbicide tolerant soybean for food, feed and industrial processing while Columbia approved five biotech maize events for feed and processing. Currently at number three in the top ten biotech cultivating countries, Argentina approved disease resistant biotech potato and a maize event improved for both herbicide tolerance and insect resistance. Brazil approved insect resistant cotton and a stacked event of soybean improved for herbicide tolerance and product quality. Australia and New Zealand approved biotech cotton modified for insect resistance while South Korea approved herbicide tolerant maize for food use.`
