African Short Course on Agro-biosciences (AfSCA)

African Short Course on Agro-biosciences (AfSCA)

Regional training on emerging bioscience technologies including genome editing, gene drives, and drones. Open to scientists, early career professionals, and special interest groups.

The Situation

New and emerging technologies are advancing faster than the public can understand and use them in daily life, while the complexity of the science and interests involved makes policy development more challenging.

AfSCA is a regional training program hosted by ISAAA AfriCenter to create a platform for dialogue on emerging bioscience technologies with practical relevance for agricultural transformation.

Participant Reflection

"I always thought that international negotiations are the responsibility of governments and lawyers. I learnt today that I can also make a contribution in drafting international guidelines that eventually affect our country policies on research and development."
