ISAAA AfriCenter will host a live webinar on animal biotechnology on Thursday August 27, 2020 at 12:00 GMT. The Webinar, themed Animal Biotechnology: The Next Frontier, will explore how molecular biology tools are being employed in improving animals’ suitability for agricultural, industrial and pharmaceutical applications.
To date, animal biotechnology has been used to produce genetically engineered animals with improved growth rates, resistance to diseases and ability to synthesize therapeutic proteins.
The webinar will give a special focus to the use of biotechnology in improving resilience and maintaining diversity in livestock, and the potential of editing livestock genomes to confer desirable traits. It will be presented by a trio of vastly experienced animal scientists, and moderated by Dr. Rhodora Aldemita, Director, ISAAA SEAsia Center.
