ISAAA AfriCenter participated in the annual meeting of the Plant Biotechnology and Breeding (Plant B+B) network, from 7th to 9th November, in Ghent, Belgium. The meeting provided and opportunity for Plant B+B members to update on individual institutional progress, reflect on challenges and explore opportunities for joint activities within agricultural biotechnology research, education and outreach.
The network was established to foster and contribute to the advancement of global scientific knowledge and unite international institutions’ expertise. It is supported by the VIB-International Plant Biotechnology Outreach (IPBO) that has several exciting opportunities for African researchers:
- The Open Doors Fellowship Program that targets women researchers in Africa
to help them acquire the necessary hard and soft skills to strengthen their placements within their hosting institutions and, ultimately, avoid dropping out before their consolidation stage. Deadline for this opportunity is 31st December, 2023. For more information click here or get in touch with Laura Cortada on email@example.com
- An open slot modality for a 3-month postdoc stay of a social scientist in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Division of Agri-food Marketing & Chain Management. For more information on this opportunity, click here or get in touch with Prof. Hans De Steur on DeSteur@ugent.be
