Biotechnology Information Centers (BICs) serve as the loci of country-focused biotechnology outreach and act as credible and authoritative information and communication resource centers. They support national programs on agricultural biotechnology by providing strategic information for decision making; and synthesize and package information using appropriate formats for various stakeholders, including translating the information into local languages and process documentation.

The AfriCenter runs four BICs in Africa based in Kenya, for the Eastern and Central Africa; Mali and Burkina Faso, for the Francophone West Africa; and Egypt for Arab-Speaking North Africa. UBIC recently joined the Afri-BIcs family as the ‘new voice of biotech in Uganda.’
