About the course

We would like to take you through an interactive 3-day science communication training that will transform you into a communicator that can effectively engage a non-technical audience.

During the 3-day science communication training, you will:
  1. Learn the need to proactively communicate research activities and findings rather than being reactive, defensive and sporadic
  2. Be equipped with principles that guide effective science communication
  3. Discover ideal strategies for engaging stakeholders to meet project communication objectives.
  4. Be able to anticipate, prepare and to organize responses to questions you are most likely to face from different audiences/stakeholders
  5. Be able to develop responsive messages that factor in the best communication principles
  6. Understand the concept of effectively pitching science stories to the media and how to write for a non-scientific audience
  7. Understand the different tools and strategies used for engaging with the mass media.
  8. Gain some "hands-on experience" on how to effectively handle media briefings and press conferences
  9. Be equipped with various strategies and tools/tips of engaging policy makers
  10. Learn how to deliver an effective elevator pitch
